Saadat Hassan Manto,a prolific author who was born in 1912,lived a short life of 43 years.His provocative stories got him in trouble various times.He was charged with obscenity six times in India and Pakistan.However,the validity of these charges is debatable because people have different opinions about the stories wriiten by Manto. Manto is celeberated to be one of the greatest writers this country has ever seen.Eventhough he was aman of extreme talent,he lived a quite difficult life even the after the partition when he shayari migrated to Pakistan,mostly due to his quite bold writings.He had different views on life which made him different from the people in his surrounding which caused hatred for him.
Manto once said:
“If you cannot bear these stories then the society is unbearable. Who am I to remove the clothes of this society, two lines shayari hindi which itself is naked. I don’t even try to cover it, because it is not my job, that’s the job of dressmakers.”

Despite his bad health and hard times,manto kept on speaking on his mind.He died in 1951.Though Manto wrote his own epitah but it was replaced by another tombstone on which these lines are written:
” Saadat Hasan Manto ki qabr ki qabr he Yahan Manto jo aaj bhi ye samajhta hay kay wo loh-e-Jahan per harf-e-muqarar nahi tha”
